The 1990 vintage began with a stutter step, cold weather extended flowering well into two weeks and there was a high level millerandage ,shot berries. Even so, 1990 was a large crop up 25% from the 1989 vintage. Summer brought forth perfect weather conditions, hot dry and sunny with barely enough rain to hold off drought conditions. Picking began early, and the vigneron were presented with small concentrated physiologically ripe grapes with acidity to match. There was an even and consistent feel to the vintage from every at every level and from every area in Burgundy. These are full bodied , densely colored red wines with just a hint of baked fruit character. |
